Why PianoMusicality Holds Recitals
Recitals are an opportunity for students to showcase all that they are learning, allowing family and friends to enjoy the solo and duet pieces the students worked hard on all year. Recitals teach students performance etiquette, poise, and ways to overcome nervousness. They are prepared for this during lessons by being taught how to understand music and their specific pieces in order to play through any mistakes while performing. The emphasis is on creating a wonderful music experience for the audience rather than feeling pressured to perform perfectly.
Students get to hear the pieces all the other students are playing which often gives them ideas of what they want to work on next. Because all my students are given the opportunity to work on pieces from their favorite genres, students get to hear a wide range of types of music which broadens their musical exposure.
Music is meant to be shared and to give joy! By learning to be comfortable performing at recitals, students are more likely to want to play for their friends and family throughout the year sharing the joy they have in learning to make music.
